Anal Sex: Achieving an Anal Orgasm

Anal Orgasm: Safety and Anal Lube

The decision to begin exploring other kinds of sexual experience within a relationship can be an exciting one. It can also be a little scary, especially when the subject of anal sex first crops up. This can be an intimidating change for both partners, so make sure that both are ready, emotionally and psychologically. The decision to try anal sex must be a mutual one.

Communication is Necessary for an Anal Orgasm

Make sure to discuss things beforehand. Talk about the why, and how; explore how far and how fast things should proceed, and the limits you wish to set, beforehand with your partner. Exchange notes on the expectations that either partner has, and the techniques that are going to be used. The one thing one does not need, in an already high-stress first time activity, is the possibility of running into problems in the middle of things.

Did you know?

Until 2003, the legality of anal sex varied from state to state. Texas still upholds their laws.

There are two major essentials one must keep in mind for a successful experience of anal sex to achieve an anal orgasm– relaxation and lubrication. The first requisite, to prepare for anal sex, is to relax, and take your time. A long hot bath can go a long way to relax both partners. Make sure to schedule enough time for the attempt, so that any unnecessary hurry and fumbling is eliminated. Keep in mind, throughout the activity, that any undue hurry, and any lack of consideration can cause a great deal of pain, to the receiving partner. Every time something is inserted into the anus, regardless of whether it is as narrow as a finger or the much wider girth of a penis, there is a chance of tearing tissue walls, causing discomfort, pain or bleeding. So slow up, and be considerate. Insertion should proceed in stages, giving the receiving partner enough time to relax, and get used to the feeling.

In addition, anal lube is essential. Choose the right kind of anal lube, and use it liberally, to enhance the experience of anal sex. It will make insertion easier, because it can cause less damage, and help the overall experience to then achieve an anal orgasm. So, the most important preparation for anal sex should be picking up the right type of anal lube. Since the anus, unlike the vagina, does not produce any lubrication, smooth and easier penetration -- as well as a better range of sensations for both partners -- adequate lubrication of the right type is essential.

Choosing the Right Anal Lube

There are various types of anal lubes available today:

• Water-based anal lube: are great for all types of sexual practices because they are generally safe to use with all kinds of condoms, skin friendly, and don’t cause trouble with any kind of sex toys. However, some water-based anal lubes are flavored, and should be avoided for anal sex, since the sugar in them might provoke a yeast infection.

• Silicone-based anal lube: are comparatively recent, and can be used for almost any kind of sexual activity, including anal sex. Silicone anal lubricants do not damage latex and can be used quite safely with a condom. An additional advantage is that a silicone base lube absorbs at a much slower rate, cutting out the hassle of frequent reapplication.

• Oil- and petroleum-based anal lube: are the most common choices, but have a number of disadvantages for any kind of sex play, including anal sex. They are incompatible with latex, causing problems with the use of condoms and sex toys. They are not entirely safe for sensitive genital areas since the oil makes them much harder to clean up. The remaining oil layer can cause bacterial infections.

As a general rule, a non-spermicidal-lubricated condom is the best bet, with ample water-based or silicone based lubricant.
